Building Enclosure Consultant
RWDI
I enjoy serving my community through volunteerism, particularly in ways that align with my professional expertise and personal interests.
Influenced by my parents' interests, I have been exposed to old buildings and repair methods throughout my life. Early in my career, I worked as a carpenter, learning to analyze historic structures and diagnose building failures. While pursuing my degree in architecture, I gained experience in community planning, documenting historic district boundaries, and developing design guidelines. After graduating and earning my architectural license, I specialized in historic preservation, renovation, and adaptive reuse, collaborating with recognized practitioners on diverse projects involving a variety of materials, scales, and building types in our region.
My work has always been driven by an appreciation for the material and cultural value of existing buildings—particularly how to keep them relevant and renew underutilized resources. I believe obsolescence poses the greatest threat to historic structures.
Over the past decade, my focus has shifted to building science and enclosures, where I work to enhance the performance of existing buildings while preserving their character. This work often requires navigating unknown or misunderstood challenges, and I am committed to developing practical solutions and sharing that knowledge with others.
I am honored to contribute to an organization dedicated to advancing preservation technology and fostering shared knowledge within the field.
